 Dear Friends,

Here’s hoping that this finds you ready to kick your feet up and relax for the upcoming holiday season! Since we last wrote, it’s been quite a whirlwind this fall as the NextGen Foundation continues to pick up speed and interest in the motorsports industry. EPartrade, Los Angeles Downtown News and Los Angeles Parent all wrote articles about our mission and the traction we’re gaining.

The Next Gen Foundation made its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, bringing our INDY car for display and hosting our first ever Women in Motorsports panel. Some of the most pre-eminent women in the industry as well as up and coming drivers talked about how they got into race car driving, the challenges they faced and resilience they showed.

Desiree Medellin from Bunker Race Team,

Nicole McElroy from Recaro,

Kelsey Rowlings from Drift Chick,

Lindsay Brewer race car driver and

Sabré Cook W series driver,

Our own Michelle Della Penna moderated the program and shared her experience growing up at the track by her father’s side. It was an enlightening and engaging conversation about the current climate of motorsports and where each woman wants to see our beloved sport move towards. All in all, we need more women in the industry, whether they be behind the wheel, designing helmets or working on next generation materials and products!

Our 2022 program is ambitious and will include a full cycle of opportunities to participate - starting with a karting day for girls 9-15 as the precursor to racer development programs, a fundraiser in LA during the Grand Prix, and a fellowship series for girls to shadow movers and shakers in the industry over the summer.  Our official launch will be during the INDY 500 in May, where we look forward to partnering with teams, corporations and the public for a special program.

All of this needs... funding and support. It takes a village to raise the Foundation and support our initiatives - funding, resources, mentors, equipment.

We’re hoping that each of you will consider donating at either the $100 or $500 level to build our sustaining memberships .  For those of you whose organizations are interested in partnering with the Foundation, please reach out to either of us for the sponsor package and we’ll set up a time to talk.

Warm wishes,

Michelle Della Penna                        Susan Lucas-Conwell
